Two Nigerians Arrested In Ghana
Two Nigeian men have been arrested by the Ghana police for alleged armed robbery.
A 29 year-old Prince Ekene, a computer engineer, and 38-year-old Jerry Elijah, a mechanic, allegedly robbed a couple in their residence at Fise, an Accra suburb on June 14, 2015.
Two Ghanaians Basiru Zukar and Adjei Appiah have also been arrested by the police for purportedly receiving the stolen goods.
According to the police, six armed robbers had gained access into their victims’ house by scaling the fence and then forcefully opening the main door to the apartment. After that the robbers allegedly tied up the man, who was at that moment at home. The suspects reportedly stole a flat screen television, three mobile phones, one standing air-conditioner, three laptops and the sum of GHC200.
Briefing the press on the arrest, Timothy Bonga Yoosa, the assistant of the police commissioner, added that the suspects escaped in their victims’ car, which they later abandoned. However, later the car was returned to the couple.
Meanwhile, four Nigerians were arrested and jailed for terms between 15 and 18 years in New Zealand. The criminals, who were part of an international drug syndicate, were found guilty of importing and possessing methamphetamine for supply.
