174 Lawmakers Appeal To President Buhari
174 members of the House of Representatives of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari.
The legislators asked the president to save the integrity of the APC by warning its 39 uncontrolled members to put the party first.
These members had recently conspired with the opposition Peoples Democratic Congress (PDP) in the National Assembly to elect Senate President and House Speaker on June 9.
The majority of the party voted for Hon Femi Gbajabiamila and Hon Mongunu as Speaker and Deputy Speaker, while the 39 other APC members conspired with the PDP to elect the incumbent Speaker and Deputy Speaker giving the opposition an eight votes of superiority.
The legislators are worried that party members will further colluding with the PDP. They also defined their conduct as aimed at splitting the ruling party, and thereby giving drift for many members to leave to the PDP.
